Is Your GUT health getting in your way?

ree

There are two major components to having a healthy gut.  They are a healthy intestinal mucous lining with close closed junctions that prevent “leaky gut.  The 2nd component to having a healthy gut is what everyone talks about.  The Microbiome.   What is that?   That is your bacteria.

We have a few pounds of bacteria in our system.  It can be up to 4 pounds depending on the person.  There can be ten times more bacteria in our microbiome than we have cells in our body.  That is why the significance of its balance and health is so important.  Often, I say it is our “control” system.  It is the balance of the friendly bacteria vs. the unfriendly harmful bacteria that we need to talk about.

Maybe you have heard of C-diff, H pylori, Candida, parasites, SIBO and many other terms or ways that our gut system can be thrown off.  Stress is another factor, but that is for another day!

The power of good bacteria:

“Bacteria” or “bugs” are often something to fear for people.  They associate it with a bacterial infection or something wrong.  But when we have healthy bacteria, we are constantly being saved from these things.  They fight infection, clear toxins from the body, roam your system eating proteins and other micro-organisms that do not necessarily belong in us.  This is what keeps our immune system functioning at an optimal level.

How are we keeping the lining of our gut healthy and why:

We must keep the mucosal lining in our intestines healthy.  This keeps all the bacteria, toxins etc. in the place where they belong, and from roaming around the rest of our systems becoming pathogenic.

Overcoming Obstacles to optimal gut health:

Diet and lifestyle are the first defense to making sure we keep our bacterial load happy and in good health.  Balance is key.  There are many things that can disrupt this balance and allow leakage as well as an overgrowth of the unhealthy bacteria.

1.      Processed foods

2.      Pharmaceuticals

3.      Fluoride

4.      Artificial Sweeteners

5.      Alcohol use

6.      Chemicals in many products we use in everyday household products.

7.      Endotoxins and chemicals in beauty products, you get the gist.

An overabundance of one or a combination of all of these will start to create an imbalance in your system as well as loosen up the junctions that are keeping your intestinal lining tight and your body systems safe.  The door potentially can open to a host of problems.  Fungus, joint pain, toxins leaking into the rest of your body starting to create havoc and unwanted symptoms.  This can go so far as to lead to may auto-immune conditions, heart disease, liver problems.

What to do:

First line of defense?  Probiotics.  Lactobacillus Plantarum, Saccharomyces Boulardii, and spore probiotics go a long way to battle an overgrowth of unfriendly bacteria. However, that can’t be all.  This is great if you just want to add something to your daily routine to make sure you are maintaining a good healthy gut.  If you have other symptoms than that may be an indication that there needs to be some other things that need to be addressed to make sure you are not experiencing leaky gut.

Help? coaching or a program:

Working on your system if you are experiencing symptoms such as:  bloating, gas, constipation/diarrhea, stomach pain, it is best to have a conversation with a professional to determine if you have leaky gut and where and how to start repairing it.  Every person is uniquely different therefore every person may need a slightly different approach to start healing their gut.  IT CAN BE DONE!
